Gone are the days when you needed to uninstall some softwares/applications from the internal storage to install the updates.
Be it a game or some utility app you like which can't be installed to sd card due to perormance restriction from the developer.
There comes a Great news for the lumia users as the news comes from the official Microsoft's support channel.
"Lumia software update OS version 8.10.14219.341 (formerly Denim), or above enables support for downloading phone software updates to a SD memory card. The supported devices list includes: Lumia 530/530 Dual SIM, 630/630 Dual SIM, 635, 636, 638, 730 Dual SIM, 735 and 830. The feature will be available for possible software updates coming after 8.10.14219.341."
The above news states that only the new lumias will get this feature and the older lumia phones with sd card slot will be the exceptions.
"Other Lumia models with a SD memory card slot, such as Lumia 520, 525, 620, 625, 720, 820, 1320 and 1520, do not support downloading updates to memory card."
It is indeed a great news for the users with only having internal storage of 4GB on their phones.
And also for me Being an user of Nokia Lumia 730 Dual sim on the preview for developers the system takes space of 4.09GB and internal apps loaded with phone takes up 1.50 GB and with offline maps downloaded leaves me with only 896.38 MB which is not permissible for OS updates as you need around more than 1.20 GB internal storage free.
Even I was worried with such low space for future updates.
As downloads updates to sd card, these feature does not allow users to install OS on memory card but download temporary installation files to update in internal memory.
It is not clear whether only the lumia phones get this feature or all other non- lumia phones will also get this feature as an update.
But one thing is clear that the older x2x series wont get this feature.
How many times you have un-installed apps for the sake of OS updates?
