DIGITAL INDIA - A STEP FURTHER #DigitalIndia


Digital India is an initiative of GOI to integrate department and people of India for effective governance and also aims at ensuring the government services made available to citizens electronically by reducing paper work.

These initiative also aims for connecting Rural areas under High Speed Internet networks.

The basic components of Digital India include Creation of Digital Infrastructure, Delivering Services Digitally and Digital Literacy.

Digital India is being said to be completed till 2019 but with a bolder step some of the initiatives are aimed to be completed in 2015 itself.

Digital Maharashtra Initiatives:

Aaple Sarkar:

Aaple Sarkar (Your Government) is a Portal and Mobile App to handle citizen grievance.

It would also handle the suggestions and feedback by citizens for more participative governance.

e-Office:

e-Office is to be mandatory in all departments of mantralaya, for all correspondence sent by Divisional Commissioner Offices and District Collector Offices to mantralaya.

These e-Office consists features such as e-attendance and also aims to reduce as much as paper work in the offices.

Digital Locker for the citizens:

A storage space of 10 mb per person on the cloud to be allotted to store citizen documents.

These storage accounts will be linked to your UID (Adhaar) number.

These feature is now rolled out by Maharashtra government.

VSAT for remote areas:

2000 remote areas in the state without any kind of internet connectivity be connected to VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal)

VSAT is a Satellite communications system which handles Data, Voice and Video Signals.

VSAT technology will have special focus on places such as Gadhchiroli, Nandurbar and Sindhudurg.

NOFN:

NOFN is the National Optic Fiber Network.

100 Gram Panchayats to be connected through NOFN, Offer services like free public Wi-Fi (Using TV white spaces if permitted by GOI), Virtual Class, Rooms and Telemedicine.

IT/ITES Policy:

Developing Pune, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad as the vibrant IT hubs with major focus on the hardware and Electronics manufacturing in the state.

Manufacturing (Make in India) an Essential Part of the Digital India will be able to provide adequate thrust for the industry players to setup manufacturing in the state.

Private Data Centres to be encouraged to come up in the towns like Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Nashik.

Reducing the School bag Burden:

Digital content to be developed to reduce the school bag burden for kids.



Concepts like Gamification of the content to ensure learn while you play and MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) to be encouraged to make education more effective and reachable in even the remote areas.


RTI Online:

To roll out the RTI online in Mantralaya and across the state in all offices

National Digital Literacy Mission:

To ensure that the Digital Literacy Mission is effectively implemented in the state, and every family has an e-literate person a detailed action plan be prepared to reach out to all the schools and also to the citizens through the CSCs and Sangram Kendras.

CCTNS and CCTV Projects:

Fastracking CCTV and CCTNS (Crime and Criminal tracking network systems) projects.

Creation of common minimum standards for CCTV systems, so that different cities have some uniformity, and that Smart analytical systems would be part of CCTV system.

The CCTNS would help to facilitate collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, transfer and sharing of data at the police station and between the police station.

Cyber policing and Forensic Labs:

To ensure that Police has internal experts and tools to deal with cyber forensics and cyber investigations.

These would help to create much more jobs in the cyber sector for government.

Use of Libre-Office and standard Marathi Fonts:

CDAC, Pune has developed Sakal Marathi Font and many plug-ins like Marathi SpellChecker and Marathi Shaskiya ShabdKosh plugin for Open source Libre-Office.

All Government offices across the state will be encouraged to use these open source and free tool for creating any new documents

RUPAY:

Mandatory usage of RUPAY instead of Master/Visa/AMEX in Government Scheme issued credit/debit/ATM cards.
